An accomplished attorney with nearly 20 years of experience, Janine has litigated a wide range of civil cases in both state and federal courts. She has extensive courtroom, appellate, arbitration and mediation experience. Since joining Nesenoff & Miltenberg, LLP, Janine has focused her practice on complex civil litigation including partnership disputes, shareholder related actions, defamation, professional malpractice, construction defect, Labor Law, Maritime/Admiralty and general negligence.
Janine also devotes part of her practice to protecting the rights of college students in disciplinary proceedings accused of misconduct, including sexual misconduct, Covid-19 violations and academic integrity allegations, Title IX gender discrimination, Title VII employment discrimination.
Janine started her career as an Assistant State Attorney in Miami Dade County, Florida, where she successfully prosecuted many felony and misdemeanor cases from inception through trial and post-trial appeals. For 15 years she served as an associate and senior counsel for two prominent New York City firms and successfully represented corporations, sporting facilities, insurance companies, hospitals, physicians and individuals in complex civil matters.
In addition to practicing law, Janine served as an arbitrator for the New York City Civil Court, Bronx County, from 2010 through 2019, where she was responsible for hearing cases and issuing decisions on a variety of small claims disputes.
Janine is licensed to practice law in New York, California, Florida and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. She is a 2003 graduate of Hofstra University School of Law and obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from CUNY/Queens College.
