Nick Lewis, an accomplished litigator and trial attorney with extensive experience handling a wide range of matters, focuses his practice in the areas of civil rights, business litigation, Title IX, defamation and First Amendment matters. In addition to his trial practice, Nick has extensive experience leading corporate investigations, representing clients at mediation and discreet handling of time-sensitive criminal, compliance and regulatory matters of significant public interest.
Prior to joining Nesenoff & Miltenberg, Nick worked for a prominent New York firm litigating matters of diverse, complex subject matter including professional liability, mental health law, disciplinary matters, administrative hearings, general liability, corporate compliance as well as representing targets of criminal, regulatory and corporate investigations. He successfully represented multinational corporations, law firms, partnerships and major New York City Hospitals in a wide range of matters. Nick gained extensive civil trial experience, including as first chair, securing numerous successful jury verdicts for his clients.
Nick began his legal career as an Assistant District Attorney at the Bronx District Attorney’s Office, where he was assigned to the elite Investigations Bureau. He gained extensive experience in a venue known to be a challenging one for prosecutors. Nick prosecuted a wide variety of complex economic crimes, including criminal tax fraud, embezzlement and health care fraud. While in the Bronx, he handled the majority of investigations and prosecutions pertaining to misconduct by attorneys. Nick tried numerous cases to verdict and conducted long term investigations with federal and state law enforcement officials. After 5 years in public service, he joined a prominent New York criminal defense firm where he represented clients on a wide array of matters in both State and Federal Court, as well as matters before FINRA and professional disciplinary committees. He also conducted internal investigations on behalf of corporate clients. Nick has demonstrated an ability to effectively get to the heart of a matter, with a relentless examination of facts under the guiding principles of fundamental fairness and justice.
Nick received his J.D. from New York Law School, where he graduated cum laude, in 2008. He graduated from Boston University, College of Communications with a B.S. in Mass Communication Studies in 2004.
